The Small Business Financial Counsellors
provide assistance to small and medium sized enterprises who are
suffering from financial hardship; to
support them manage the challenges
of industry change, adjustment and
sustainability as a result of COVID impacts
or similar natural disasters.The intended outcomes of the program
are to:
• assist eligible small businesses impacted by
economic downturns due to drought, COVID19
or similar natural disasters, to understand their
financial position and identify options and
implement plans to improve the viability of
their enterprise,
• Within a case management framework, the role
of the counsellor includes helping clients:
1. understand their financial position,
2. understand the benefits and drawbacks of
different options to manage financial issues,
3. develop budgets and cash flows,
4. negotiate with creditors,
5. access dispute resolution services,
6. understand their rights and access
broader professional advice and
support,
7. access government and
community grants,
programs or schemes
Kristy had over 9 years’ experience in the banking and finance sector and was working as a Financial Planner in 2008/09 during the Global Financial Crisis. The experience gained working in the sector during this period will assist Kristy to support small
