QCOSS Update - Reconciliation Week

CEO UPDATE: This year, the theme of Reconciliation Week is #MoreThanJustAWord, which asks all of us to move beyond talk and into meaningful action. Visit nrw.reconciliation.org.au to get involved.

At QCOSS, self-determination for Australia’s First Nations people is a key pillar of our strategic plan. We are committed to strengthening and upholding cultural rights of First Nations people. Tomorrow’s Human Rights in Action event will explore how the Human Rights Act 2019 (Qld) can provide a framework to protect the cultural rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Our Town of Nowhere campaign continues to highlight the urgent need for more social housing in Queensland. Master Builders and the Property Council have joined us to call for action on the housing crisis. As you’ll see in our budget submission, we want to see a significant investment in social housing in next month’s state budget to help 47,000 Queenslanders who don’t have a safe place to call home.
